Say hello
to a braver you.
Small classes, real conversation and teachers who remember your name. English, Spanish, French, German, Italian or Japanese, from first word to fluent debate.
Pick a language. Pick a pace.
Every course follows the CEFR scale, from A1 (total beginner) to C1 (confident and nuanced). Learn in a group, as a duo, or one-to-one.
English
Everyday English, IELTS prep and business communication.
Group: 10 weeks, 2 x 90 min per week, max 8 students. All materials included.
Built by teachers who were once beginners too.
Lingo House started in 2013 as two classrooms above a bakery on Queen Street West. Founder Camille Duret had moved to Toronto from Lyon speaking textbook English, and wanted a school where nervous adults could practise out loud without feeling judged.
Today we have nine bright classrooms and 22 native-speaker teachers, but the idea is the same: you learn a language by using it, with people.

Native speakers, patient humans.
Every teacher is a certified native speaker with at least five years in the classroom.
Less classroom, more living room.
"I ordered dinner in Madrid without pointing once."
— Priya, Spanish A2People who stopped saying "one day".
Three apps never got me past ordering coffee. After two terms with Mateo I gave a toast at my partner's family wedding in Seville. In Spanish.
I needed IELTS 7.5 for my nursing licence and had six weeks. Hannah built a plan around my weak spots. I got 8.0 overall.
Saturday Japanese is the highlight of my week. Aiko makes kanji feel like a puzzle, and our group goes for ramen after class.
How does the free placement test work?
A short online quiz plus a relaxed 15-minute chat with a teacher, in person or by video. You get your CEFR level and a course recommendation the same day, with no obligation to enrol.
I'm a total beginner. Is that okay?
Absolutely. A third of our students start at A1 with zero words. Beginner classes are slow, warm and full of visuals, and it clicks faster than you think.
What happens if I miss a class?
Lesson notes and audio are in your student portal, and you can join the same level on another day that week, free.
Do you offer certificates?
Yes. You receive a Lingo House CEFR certificate after each completed level, and we run preparation courses for IELTS, DELF, DELE, Goethe and JLPT exams.
Can I pay in instalments?
Group courses can be paid in two instalments; private lessons come in packs of 10 or 20 hours. Students and newcomers to Canada get 10% off.
Find your level, then find your class.
