About the book

Most people use AI assistants like a search box and get generic, forgettable answers. This book shows you how to get drafts you can actually send.

First, a short method you can learn in one sitting: the five ingredients of a strong prompt (role, context, task, format and examples), before-and-after examples, the most common mistakes, and a master template for any task.

Then, 150 copy-paste prompts organized by the work you really do: emails and messages, meetings, writing, marketing, sales, customer support, spreadsheets and data, planning, learning, job search and running a small business. Every prompt is a fill-in-the-blanks template with a one-line note on when to use it, so you can go from blank page to solid draft in a minute.

You also get a practical chapter on privacy and fact-checking: what never to paste into a chat, how to anonymize data quickly, a five-minute verification routine, and prompts that reduce errors. The book closes with a plan for building your own prompt library and sharing it with your team.

Works with any general-purpose AI assistant. No technical background needed.

• Templates for emails, meetings, reports, marketing and sales

AI Assistants at Work

Most weak prompts fail the same way: they leave the assistant to guess. It guesses who the reader is, how long the answer should be, what tone fits, and what you already know. Every guess is a chance to miss. A good prompt removes guesses. Five ingredients do almost all the work. 1. Role: who should the assistant be? Giving a role sets the vocabulary, depth and point of view. "You are an experienced bookkeeper for small retail shops" produces different advice than no role at all. Keep roles realistic and specific to the task. 2. Context: what does it need to know? Context is the background a smart new colleague would need: who you are, who the audience is, what happened, what has already been tried, what constraints exist. This is the ingredient people skip most, and the one that matters most. 3. Task: what exactly should it do? Use a clear verb: draft, summarize, compare, rewrite, list, critique, outline. One main task per prompt works best. If you need three things, number them. 4. Format: what should the answer look like? Say the length, structure and tone: "under 120 words", "a table with three columns", "five bullet points", "friendly but not chatty", "plain language, no jargon". If you will paste the result somewhere, say where: an email, a slide, a spreadsheet. 5. Examples: show, don't just tell If you have a sample of the style you like, paste it and say "match this tone". One good example is
